County Clerk’s Website Offers Information, Deadlines for Candidates

SOMERVILLE – Somerset County Clerk Steve Peter has updated his office’s website to include information for the upcoming primary election, including essential information for those who wish to be on the ballot. All candidates running in the June 5 primary must file their petitions by April 2.

“I’m excited to announce that the County Clerk’s Office is offering this information online for the first time,” said Peter. “I’m particularly pleased that the site now has downloadable petitions. This will make the process for running for election easier, since candidates will no longer have to come to the clerk’s office or to their local municipality for these documents.”

Other new content on the website includes information on how many signatures are needed for each type of petition and when they are due.

“My staff and I are available to assist all candidates who have questions about the process,” Peter said. “We encourage candidates and campaigns to work with our office as early as possible to ensure that the petitions are correct for filing.”
