BLACK BEAR SIGHTINGS
The residents of Green Brook should be aware of a black bear that has been sighted on the north side of Route 22 traveling from our No. Plainfield to Bridgewater borders. The bear has not exhibited aggressive behavior, but caution should be exercised if the bear wanders into your vicinity. This bear has caused property damage by rummaging through resident's garbage and in one incident, tearing through a "screened in area" to access garbage. NJ State Fish and Game has been contacted but will not take action unless the bear exhibits aggressive behavior towards humans or domestic animals. If the bear is sighted in a neighborhood, contact this department to report the sighting. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO TRACK OR INFLUENCE THE BEAR'S MOVEMENTS AND KEEP CHILDREN AND DOMESTIC ANIMALS INDOORS.
