As a result of last evening’s storm, the Township has been hit particularly hard with tree damage, Township-wide. Green Brook OEM and all of the Township departments are working to prioritize the work that needs to get done to restore full access and power within the Township. Tree-work that does not involve power lines will continue today. PSE&G is in the Township working on the powerlines. Please note the following: If you have a tree (either Township owned or personal) that is on wires, whether you have power or not, please call your power company. The Township cannot touch a tree that is involved in wires. If you have a tree that is down that you own, you may cut the tree. We are still working our debris collection plan, so information on that will be forthcoming. Township Offices are CLOSED. We do have staff checking voicemails and prioritizing calls and problems as they come in, but the offices are closed. Reminders: PLEASE STAY OFF THE ROADS There are areas of town that you can move through, however there are also many emergency services crews that are going to be working along the roadways. If you are able to stay home, please do. There are downed trees and wires all over the Township. We understand people may be curious about what has happened around the Township, but going out to see what is out there makes the jobs of our emergency services personnel more complicated and dangerous. If you do not have power, please alert your power company immediately: PSE&G: Text “OUT” to 4PSEG (47734), report it online, through our app or call 1-800-436-PSEG (7734). JCP&L: Text “OUT” to 544487, report online or call 1-888-544-4877 Do not call the Police Department about a power outage unless there is a dangerous situation such as active live lines or a person in the home is in need of assistance, in which case, call 911. If you have a true emergency and you are in a neighborhood that is locked in by wires or trees, please call 911 and the police department will come out. Do not attempt to cross under, over or through downed wires. Again, do NOT go near downed wires. Also, be a good neighbor, please check on your neighbors particularly the elderly, especially in areas where there is no power. Thank you for your cooperation and patience.
