State of NJ Extends Travel Restrictions to 12PM

The New Jersey Office of Emergency Management under the New Jersey State Police has issued a MANDATORY travel restriction as a result of the current winter storm.

In Effect:

9:00 p.m. Sunday, February 22, 2026 through 12:00PM Monday, February 23, 2026

What This Means:

• All non-exempt vehicles are prohibited from traveling on state, county, municipal, and interstate roadways.

• The New Jersey Turnpike is exempt from this restriction.

• Violators may face penalties under state law.

Who Is Exempt?

The restriction does not apply to:

Emergency & public safety personnel

Public works & snow removal crews

Public transportation employees

Government officials on official business

Utility companies

Healthcare workers & urgent medical travel

Emergency shelter & human services personnel

Critical medical supply deliveries

News media

Private snow removal contractors

Patients seeking urgent critical care (and escorts)

Workers maintaining critical infrastructure (energy, fuel, food, pharmacies, hardware stores)

Airline & airport operations personnel

This measure helps protect lives and allows emergency responders, plow operators, and utility crews to safely clear roads and restore essential services as quickly as possible.
